The kit appeared to have been in stock for some time.
Useful prototype photos with the instructions is always handy.
The floor is two folded up etches on top of each other. Some of the parts are very long and thin, care in handling is needed. The buffer beam etches fold outwards, not mentioned in the instructions.
The bogie a basic but effective. No brake rigging is supplied.
The basic hopper folded up and a trial fit on the chassis.
Supports added to the hopper.
And the hopper added to the wagon.
Buffers. couplings and vacuum tank added.
There was a shortage of rivet strips in the kit, so....
Fitting the vacuum pipe down the side is difficult with the end stanchions fitted, I had to cut it it half to get it in. No big deal, but it would be better to place it before fitting the right hand stanchion. I also forgot to fill the holes in the supports the pipe runs through, there shouldn't be any gaps.
And done, 'ICI' letters added.
This was another 'must build' kit that came up for sale. Despite one or two frustrations it was fun and resulted in a pretty unique, but long lived, wagon. It was painted grey with TOPS panels (Railtec custom) before being sold. I kind of wish I'd kept it. The kit doesn't seem to be available any more. There is another version, but it has a two piece resin hopper - not my thing.
