The horsebox has been put to one side until I can find some buffers, so on with a trio of fitted GWR/BR 5 plank opens, diagram 1/034. The general construction doesn't get much simpler.
The chassis all fitted quite well, except the brake rigging between the axles was for 9th wheelbase, when the wagon is 10ft. The instructions note this - why put the wrong parts in? Anyway, with a bit of creativity the blocks are nice and close to the wheels.
The side strappings extend below the body sides, as per prototype, but bit provide anything to fill the gap. The instructions suggest bits of brass from the etch, but that would be way to thin - the strap is supposed to be riveted to it. Out with the plastikard...
