With a the lack of arrival of wheels making progress impossible, I've dragged out the Tower Warship kit again. I bought this on a whim about 20 years ago but keep getting fed up with hacking away at huge amounts of pewter to get anything done. All the sub assemblies, so to speak, are done and after hours of filing the window apertures now take the full set of Heljan Warship windows I bought. Next is to trial fit the cab interiors to get a good fit (more hacking away at pewter...) prior to painting the body. With the Western I have 2/3 of the holy trinity.
Three coats of paint later and it's starting to look like an engine. Almost all of the lamp brackets got knocked off.
In the continuing absence of wheels, I've had to continue with the Warship. I'm hating every minute of it, but at least it's nearing completion. Inside, attempting to fit the dash, headcode box and floor is almost impossible when you can't see what the dash is butting up to. The plumbing for the lower front is also awaiting that order, the original pipes having gone walkies somewhere - the other bit are present though. Those will go on after the cabs are done so I can fit the bogies and stand it it's wheels. Standing on the under body, even protected, results in paint damage - the dammed thing just weighs so much. I've made new lamp brackets based on photos, the Heljan ones I ordered were OO scale.... arrgghhhh. Found the buffers though, a good bonus.
