The wheels arrived from MSC Models. Their site suggested that the wheels can be pulled off the axles without detriment, so I went for them. Sure enough they do, and go back on again. With screw holes and compensator pivot it's quite difficult not to get the wheels on the centre line. I've not gone for any fancy brearings, the axles rotate freely as is and the insulators prevent any shorting.
