In one of life's little gifts, it turns out that the compensators that came with the 6-wheel brake van and didn't fit did fit exactly between the Cardon's sole bars. Not only solving the wheel mounting problem, but also providing compensation. I've started on very cautiously carving out the filler for the tank ends. Wood carving would not have been a good hobby choice. I don't know why I had a blank on it, but in order to reduce or maybe eliminate fibreglass pencil use for cleaning now it's cheaper to buy a house I got hold of some '0000' wire wool. It does make your hands a bit grubby and take rather more effort than fibreglass, but it will even go into dark and dingy corners pushed about with a coffee stirrer. The results are good and detail isn't damaged. (The roller flattened the rivets on the middle bits a bit.... oops.)
"Come in here, boy, Have a cigar..." now earworming it's way round my head.
