The trend continues, with 'I'm only having one engine' now up to seven (counting the bubble car) with the arrival of the Accurascale (now Heljan branded) Class 97 (oh yes it was ;-)). Must be some sort of shunting Thomas story in this pic... waiting for the decoder to arrive before powering up and playing with No. 20. Testing. I mean testing, obviously. Connoisseur 04 kit next?
The first attempt at the Ruston was a bit of a failure, there was something pretty wrong with the transmission which led to a noisy grinding halt and then some very unhappy running. Accurascale/Heljan were superb, and a replacements was dispatched even before the old one arrived back. All is now good with decoder fitted and the huge capacity stay-alive working fine - it goes for ages after a derailment which is actually not good, there's no way to stop it other than lifting it off the layout, which isn't easy when it coupled up.
Anyway, No. 20 has taken up residence in Weavers Sidings where it will happily shut sleeper wagons. It's going to get a little shed/shelter to keep it out of the rain in the absence of a handy bridge like the prototype had.
